It was as if she never left.
Whenever Sisi Rondina soared for a spike, cheers inside the Filoil EcoOil Centre reached a crescendo.
It only proved one thing: volleyball fans missed the high-flying Rondina, who focused on her beach volleyball stint with the national team the last four years.
Now that she’s back in indoor volleyball, and it’s as if she never left.
The former UST Golden Tigress fired 14 points, 13 coming off attacks, as the Choco Mucho Flying Titans made short work of new Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-14, 25-7, 25-16, in the PVL Invitational Conference on Thursday.
The Cebuana spiker had little to say after a spectacular debut in a Choco Mucho threads.
“Hindi ko alam, basta kung ano lang ‘yung pinapakita ko dati ‘yun pa rin ngayon. Walang bago,” she said after the match.
Although she’s playing with college rivals like Bea de Leon, Kat Tolentino, and Maddie Madayag, Rondina said the transition has been smooth.
Familiarity with each other’s game may have been the key to the palpable chemistry on the court.
“Naging madali para sa’kin na mag-jell agad kami kasi rivals na kami college pa so mabilis na lang [nag-sync 'yung laro],” she said.
Choco Mucho will next face another newcomer team in the Foton Tornadoes on Saturday, July 1. Meanwhile, Farm Fresh continues action on July 11 against win-hungry Petro Gazz Angels, who are coming off an opening day loss.
