Luckily for the youth sector of Pasig City, the Alyssa Valdez Youth Volleyball Camp (AVYVC) is set to make a return. Through this project, young Pasigueños can learn and enjoy the sport for free, under the watch of no less than the Phenom herself.

The camp will be conducted hand-in-hand with the local government. During the signing of the Memorandum of the Agreement between the two parties, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto lauded the efforts initiated by the PVL superstar.

“Very thankful, nagkaroon na tayo ng unang programa, led by them. At nakakatuwa ‘yung reaksyon ng mga bata pati ng mga parents,” Sotto said in a video uploaded by VLOG NG PASIG on Tuesday.

“Good opportunity, talagang dapat ang start ng sports sa grassroots at ‘yun ‘yung ginagawa nila. So, thank you kay Alyssa at sa buong team,” he added.

As for Valdez, she’s approaching this advocacy with the same passion she displays when she’s about to smash the ball off a perfect Jia de Guzman setup. Rightfully so, she was given a special recognition by the city council.

“I’m very overwhelmed by the recognition po. And hindi ko ini-expect, so maraming-maraming salamat sa Pasig City,” said the Creamline Cool Smashers ace.

“Babalik po tayo dito sa Pasig para bisitahin muli ang ating mga naturuan at sana makapag-invite pa tayo ng mas madaming kids na matutulungan at matuturuan ng volleyball. So, we’re really happy na makabalik po tayo dito sa Pasig,” she continued.

Valdez recently won her seventh Best Outside Spiker of the Conference award in the PVL. And now that it’s the offseason, she’s been doing a great job as well, spearheading programs like the AVYVC. Yes, Alyssa continues to score winning points even outside the volleyball court.
