Coach Dante Alinsunurin's ways are rubbing off on the Flying Titans.
Patience. Patience. Patience.
Kat Tolentino shared this mindset after the Choco Mucho Flying Titans' match against the Kansai University of Japan on Saturday to kick off the VTV Cup. It was special for the Flying Titans since this was their first international match and it resulted in a win.
Choco Mucho won the first two sets, 25-17, 25-23, before faltering in the third set, 19-25. The Flying Titans eventually regained their bearings to secure the match, 25-22.
After the game, Tolentino was asked about the secret to Choco Mucho's rousing debut win.
"I think patience," Tolentino answered. "The Japan team is a very good team. We just have to be patient and focus on our side first before getting frustrated. Even if they're leading, we can still catch up."
Choco Mucho will be banking on that focus as they continue a grueling five-day schedule on Sunday against Vietnam's Team 1. Next will be Australia, Vietnam's Team 2, and then South Korea's team from Suwon City.
It appears, though, that the Flying Titans are unfazed by the challenge ahead, as evidenced by their cool dance moves before the tournament.
"Very friendly crowd, very supportive and welcoming since we got here," Tolentino said of their reception in Vietnam. "They're always helpful and asking us if we need anything."
She was especially a fan of Vietnamese food, such as pho.
"Food is good. I like the soup. Excited to try more things," Tolentino shared. "And the spring rolls!"
Choco Mucho coach Dante Alinsunurin is banking on these international games to help propel the Flying Titans from seventh place in the Invitational Conference to the final four in the next PVL conference.
