A statement win for the Cool Smashers.
The Creamline Cool Smashers had another dominant outing to their PVL Second All-Filipino Conference campaign after sweeping the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-20, 25-20, 25-16, at the Batangas City Sports Center.
In a battle of juggernaut teams, the Cool Smashers, despite the departure of Ced Domingo, showed once more why they are the favorites to bring home the title.
Errors, meanwhile, badly hurt the HD Spikers as they accumulated 29 total in the match.
Michele Gumabao starred in Creamline’s straight-sets victory as she finished with 20 points built on 19 attacks and one block.
The key to the Cool Smasher’s dominating win? Gumabao said it was their preparations prior to the game.
“I think the adjustments were very minimal kasi we really prepared our game plan and strategy beforehand palang and na-execute naman na 'yung game,” Gumabao said during the postgame interview. “Preparation talaga kaya konti nalang 'yung naging adjustments, puro execution nalang.”
Gumabao also stressed the importance of racking up wins in the season-ending conference.
“Of course, every game is important to us. It's a quick season, so every game, every set, every point is a must-win for us,” said Gumabao.
With the win, the Cool Smashers improved to 2-0, while the HD Spikers slid to a 1-1 slate.
Creamline will look to extend its win streak to three as it faces the Gerflor Defenders on Thursday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City. Cignal, meanwhile, will look to bounce back as it goes up against the Choco Mucho Titans on the same date.
