Santos has been a dependable scorer for the High Speed Hitters this conference.
Make that five wins in a row for the PLDT High Speed Hitters in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference as they sweep the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 29-27, 25-14, 25-18, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The High Speed Hitters had to overcome a tight opening set before distancing themselves in the second and third sets versus the Highrisers.
Erika Santos rose to the occasion for PLDT as she finished with 17 points built on 15 attacks and two blocks.
Santos has been having quite a conference under coach Rald Ricafort after being left on the bench for most of her collegiate life and the start of her professional career.
“Thankful ako kasi first time ko maging starter tapos sa pro team pa,” Santos said during the post-game press conference. “Kunyari ngayong game na ito, hindi lang titigil laro ko dito, mas pinipili ko pa mag-step up.”
Ricafort, meanwhile, acknowledged the effort that Santos has been putting up for the team which has led to a 5-1 record so far for PLDT in the conference.
“‘Yung pagpasok palang namin sa PLDT, binanggit ko na sa kanya (Erika) ‘yung opportunity na gusto ibigay yung role kung ano meron siya ngayon. So, thankful kami na medyo kumakagat na this conference, so sana mag tuloy-tuloy,” said Ricarfort.
Santos and the rest of the High Speed Hitters will look to continue their fine form as they face the tough Chery Tiggo Crossovers on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena.
The Highrisers, meanwhile, will have a one-week break to prepare for their match against the Nxled Chameleons at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
