The PVL off season is in full swing.
Fresh from a breakthrough Finals appearance, Choco Mucho announced that it’s letting go of opposite spiker Caitlin Viray.
Viray remained as a valuable piece for the Flying Titans in the 2nd All-Filipino Conference, where Choco Mucho racked up nine straight wins in the eliminations before beating Cignal in three games to advance to the Finals, a first for the franchise.
The former UST spiker scored a conference-high 11 points vs. Galeries, and later contributed 10 in Choco Mucho’s marathon five-setter against PLDT as the Flying Titans booked their semis slot after a four-conference drought.
CIGNAL UNLOADS AFTER RELOAD
Cignal likewise announced the departure of three players in Bia General, Anngela Nunag, and Jerrili Malabanan.
General was part of Cignal’s first batch of recruitment in late 2021, following a last-place finish in Ilocos to mark the PVL’s professional era. Nunag came over from Army in the middle of the 2023 season, fortifying the HD Spikers’ defense leading to a podium return in the Invitational Conference.
The signing of star libero Dawn Macandili-Cantindig offsets the departure of two solid veteran specialists for Cignal and makes the rotation tighter for the HD Spikers, who still also have longtime anchor Jheck Dionela.
Malabanan was part of Cignal’s haul of former Petro Gazz Angels prior to the start of the 2022 season.
