Capital1 finally had its breakthrough moment on Tuesday.

The Solar Spikers scored their first franchise victory after fending off the tough challenge of Strong Group Athletics, 25-18, 25-20, 19-25, 25-20, in the 2024 All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena.

The win arrested a two-game losing start for Capital1, and head coach Roger Gorayeb is counting on this boost in morale to shape the character of his wards.

Sabi nga nila Rome is not built overnight. Onting tiyaga lang," the seasoned tactician said.

Jorelle Singh, who finished with a game-high 13 points, echoed the same sentiments.

The Solar Spikers, despite a third-set hiccup, proved their worth, dominating SGA with a 52-48 attack differential, a 7-3 block gap, and a 5-4 service ace disparity.

Save for liberos Rica Rivera and Bingle Landicho, Capital1 saw all but one of its fielded players score at least two in the triumph.

Still, despite the winning effort, Gorayeb pointed out that the Solar Spikers are still adjusting to his system. After all, it has only been less than two months since the team was assembled.

So, sana no? Wag naman abutin ng isang taon bago namin makilala isa’t isa," he said.

"Sabi ko nga, every day is a learning process for us. Every day, kailangan matuto kami. I learn from them, they learn from me, nang sama sama."

Gorayeb and his Solar Spikers look to build on this morale-booster and carry over momentum when they take on PLDT on March 9, Saturday at the FilOil EcoOil Arena.
