The Chery Tiggo Crossovers aim for another successful PVL campaign even without their stars in Eya Laure and Jen Nierva.
The Chery Tiggo Crossovers are firmly focused on their current roster as they navigate the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference without its stars, Eya Laure and Jen Nierva.
The Crossovers are coming off a clean sweep of the Farm Fresh Foxies, where returning import Khat Bell dominated the game, scoring 23 points on 22 attacks and one block.
Chery Tiggo initially faced uncertainty on whether or not they would have Laure and Nierva for the Reinforced Conference.
However, coach Kungfu Reyes has focused the team’s preparations for the tournament on the absence of its star players.
“Lahat naman ng ginagawa namin is para sa lahat [sa team], especially sa mga wing spikers kasi ang dami rin nila,” Reyes said during the post-game press conference.
“Pero that’s a good problem for us, but again, itong nangyayari na ito sa laro, ito ‘yung pinapractice lang din naman. ‘Yung little adjustment mas madali para sa amin.” he added.
Laure and Nierva will join Alas Pilipinas for the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) V.League in Thailand.
This move is part of a broader agreement established mid-May between the PVL and the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) to loan players for national team competitions despite potential scheduling conflicts with PVL matches.

While there could be a possibility of having Laure and Nierva back with the team come the second round of the tournament, Reyes maintained that Chery Tiggo is focused on its current core of players fielded for the Reinforced Conference.
“Hindi kami naka-focus sa pagbabalik nila. We’re focusing on kung ano meron kami sa loob, especially itong core na ito,” said Reyes.
As the conference progresses, Chery Tiggo's ability to adapt and thrive with their available roster will be crucial as they look to bring home their first PVL title since 2021.
