Jorelle Singh knows it will take a lot more than Marina Tushova's superhuman efforts for the Capital1 Solar Spikers to succeed in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference playoffs.
The Capital1 Solar Spikers has made a giant leap during the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference.
With a 5-3 record, the Solar Spikers are in the quarterfinals for the first time in the team’s young history.
Team captain Jorelle Singh, who has been with the team since their inception earlier this year, couldn’t be any prouder of how her squad has performed throughout the tournament.
“Talagang pinapaguran namin ito. Kumbaga, kung saan kami nag-simula hanggang ngayon, sobrang pinaghirapan namin lahat, so proud ako sa bawat isa samin,” Singh said during a post-game press conference.
It’s no secret that a large part of their success has been due to their import, Marina Tushova, who broke the PVL All-time Scoring Record twice at this conference.

While Tushova is expected to get her usual scoring load, Singh knows local support will be crucial to Capital1’s success in the knockout stages.
“Siguro kaming mga locals kailangan talaga namin mag-step up, kailangan pa namin mag-double time sa training kasi para hindi lang nakay Marina ‘yung attacks,” said Singh.
“Kailangan naming ma-contribute nang maayos ‘yung scores, ‘yung palo, so ako personally, tina-try ko talaga ‘yung best ko makatulong sa team,” she added.

Singh added that the Solar Spikers have been working extra hard in training to ensure their Russian import won’t be the only one doing the scoring.
“Kulang pa yung ginagawa namin pero nandun na kami. Kumbaga one day at a time tinutulungan namin siya [Marina], ini-improve namin ‘yung sarili namin,” said Singh.
“Proud ako sa bawat isa samin kasi nakikita ko bawat training talagang nag-ooverload ‘yung isa’t isa. Talagang pinupush namin ‘yung isa’t isa eh,” she bared.”
Capital1 currently sits in 6th place but will await the Petro Gazz Angels’ game to determine whether they will keep their spot or slide to 7th.
