Buding Duremdes will have familiarity on her side as she joins the Cignal HD Spikers for the ongoing 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The addition of veteran libero Buding Duremdes is expected to be a big boost for the Cignal HD Spikers in their 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference campaign.
The HD Spikers announced Duremdes' signing on Wednesday, November 20, weeks after her departure from the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
The move saw the defensive standout reunite with former teammates at Far Eastern University (FEU) and head coach Shaq Delos Santos.
“Sobrang saya po na nakasama ko ulit si coach Shaq and 'yung teammates ko po dati sa FEU, and sa Petron na rin dati na teammate ko,” Duremdes told One News’ Play by Play.
But more than her past teammates, Duremdes is especially excited about teaming up with seasoned libero Dawn Macandili-Catindig.
The two had been opponents for most of their careers, whether in college or the professional league. But now, the two are expected to lead Cignal’s defense in the team’s quest for a PVL title.
“Sobrang thankful po ako na nakasama ko si ate Dawn kasi since college nung pumasok ako sa FEU, idol na idol ko po talaga siya. So ngayon, binibiro ko nga siya idol ko dati, ngayon kasama ko na,” said Duremdes.
Cignal is set to face Duremdes’ former team, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, later at 4 p.m. at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan.
While it’s still unclear whether Duremdes will already suit up for the team, the 2022 Reinforced Conference Best Libero is excited to contribute whatever she can to the HD Spikers.
“Nilu-look ko na maging maayos 'yung ipapakita ko sa bagong ko pong team,” said Duremdes.
“Ipapakita ko lang 'yung best ko po every game and siyempre sinisimulan ko muna sa training 'yung mga kulang ko po,” she added.
