Savi Davison was simply a woman on a mission.

The Fil-Canadian spiker delivered her best performance in the PVL--pouring in a career-high of 34 points on 29 attacks and five blocks, along with 17 excellent receptions--to lead PLDT past Creamline in a five-set thriller, 30-28, 25-21, 23-25, 18-25, 16-14, at the Ynares Center Antipolo on Saturday, February 15.

Despite seeing the Cool Smashers nearly pull off a reverse sweep, the High Speed Hitters star lauded the fight shown by her teammates to secure the victory.

"Just to win, honestly. Whatever it took,” Davison said during the post-game press conference. “We were super focused from the start. We knew it was gonna be a hard game but we pulled through. Never gave up so I’m really proud of what we did today.”

Since joining the league in 2023, Davison has become a kryptonite for the defending champions. The PLDT went undefeated in their two encounters against Creamline with Savi playing for the High Speed Hitters.

The last came during the 2024 All-Filipino Conference, where the 26-year-old spiker finished with 27 points and 15 excellent receptions.

But this latest win for PLDT against Creamline was much more special for Davison.

“I think one was extra special because it took every single one of us—from the bench to the people on the court,” Davison explained. “Coach was able to shuffle in a lot of people, especially shoutout to Iza [Viray], she hasn’t gotten on the court much this year but she really pulled through for us and got this win for us.”

“Like I said, it’s a team effort regardless of what I do, everyone showed up today,” she added.

Viray, the team’s backup libero, came into the match during the fourth and fifth set after Kath Arado went down with cramps.

Aside from Davison, four other PLDT players finished in double-digit scoring.

Majoy Baron had 15 markers, while Fiola Ceballos added 14. Mika Reyes and Erika Santos contributed 12 and 11, respectively.

“Just the hard work and dedication that we put in every day. It was represented thoroughly throughout this game. Like I said, we work hard in practice by ourselves like nobody really knows so I’m glad that it was represented with this game today,” Davison emphasized.

The High Speed Hitters will go for their fourth straight win against the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles next Saturday at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo.
