New heights for Juju!
Former DLSU Lady Spikers’ captain and current Galeries Tower Highrisers setter Julia Coronel has reached a new milestone—graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from DLSU.
As she takes the next step in her journey, she reflects on the perseverance, dedication, and passion that carried her through the challenges of being a student-athlete.
"My love for the green and white started when I was just a young girl, watching games and dreaming of one day being part of something bigger," Coronel shared in an emotional post.
"Back then, I was just a fan, captivated by the spirit and pride of the Lasallian community."
From a dreamer in the stands to a leader on the court, Coronel recalled the journey that shaped her into the person she is today.
"Years later, that same young girl walked through the gates of DLSU, eyes wide with wonder and a heart full of dreams. Little did she know that she was capable of balancing the demands of being a student-athlete while pursuing a degree in IT."
Balancing academics and athletics is never easy, and for Coronel, the road was filled with both triumphs and setbacks.
"I faced challenges I never saw coming, learned lessons both inside and outside the classroom, and grew in ways I never imagined," she said.
"Along the way, I encountered failures, but it was through these same failures that I discovered resilience, built lifelong friendships, found mentors who believed in me, and created a second home within these walls."
Now, as she embarks on a new chapter, Coronel stands proud of everything she has overcome.
"Today, that little dreamer stands here, ready to take on the world with the same grit that carried her through the late nights and tough days. It was perseverance and faith that brought me here, and it’s that same courage that will guide me wherever my dreams take me next."
Expressing gratitude to the people who made her journey possible, she acknowledged the DLSU Office of Sports Development (OSD) and Sir Nong for easing her transition into the university, her coaches and teammates for their unwavering support, and the Lasallian community, Lumots, and her Juju stans for their endless cheers.
"Once a Lady Spiker, always a Lady Spiker," she concluded.
With her degree in hand and a bright future ahead, Julia proves that she is not just a champion on the court but also in life.
Congratulations, Juju!
