The Petro Gazz Angels closed out the Capital1 Solar Spikers in straight sets to head into the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino quarterfinals.
The Petro Gazz Angels assured that no upset would happen against the Capital1 Solar Spikers in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference qualifying round.
The no. 2-seeded Angels hushed the efforts of the no. 11 Solar Spikers in straight sets, 25-19, 25-23, 25-21, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Saturday, March 1.
The win marked Petro Gazz’s 10th straight win in the conference on the way to the quarterfinals, with their lone loss coming against the Creamline Cool Smashers last November 16.
After close fights in the first and second sets, the Angels pulled away in the third frame, building their largest lead at 16-10 after MJ Phillips’ solo block on Leila Cruz.
Despite Capital1’s late rally, the Petro Gazz lead proved to be just too much for them to catch up as Ethan Arce sealed the win with an off-the-block hit.
Myla Pablo led the Angels' potent attack with 17 points on 15 attacks, one block, and one service ace.
Petro Gazz will now await the no. 7 seed, which will come via the play-in tournament.
