The Petro Gazz Angels will head to their first Finals appearance since 2023 after sweeping the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals with a clean victory over the Akari Chargers.
The Petro Gazz Angels have officially secured their spot in the Finals after eliminating the Akari Chargers in straight sets, 25-22, 25-20, 25-18, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Thursday, April 3.
The Angels completed the semifinal sweep to advance to their sixth Finals appearance and their first since the 2023 First All-Filipino Conference.
Tied at 11-all in the third set, Petro Gazz slowly distanced themselves from Akari behind an 11-4 blast capped by MJ Phillips’s service ace.
From there, the Angels cruised to a commanding victory with Nicole TIamzon sealing the win with an off-the-block hit.
Myla Pablo took the Player of the Game honors with 16 points on 11 attacks, four blocks, and one service ace.
Petro Gazz will now await their Finals opponent, which will either be the Creamline Cool Smashers or Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
On the other hand, Akari, who finishes with a 1-2 record with two points, will compete for the bronze medal in a best-of-three series.
