Jia De Guzman looking forward to Creamline's comeback season

Jia De Guzman looking forward to Creamline

After missing out on the PVL Reinforced Conference title, the Creamline Cool Smashers are ready to start all over again in their quest for a grand slam.

Creamline’s star setter Jia De Guzman said that the team is very much excited to make a comeback this upcoming season.

“Of course, we missed the opportunity of being in the finals in the last conference, but we placed third which is something we're very grateful for. But siyempre, we want to step it up and to have a better finish this time around,” said De Guzman.

The Cool Smashers nearly had a perfect 2022 season as they won both the Open and Invitational Conference. Creamline, however, fell short in the Reinforced Conference and missed out on a historical grand slam.

Still, De Guzman is grateful for the year they had.

“It might not have been the goal we wanted, but at the end of the year, ang dami din naman natutunan as an individual and as a team, so it’s a new slate this year,” said De Guzman.

Coming into the 2023 All-Filipino Conference, Creamline will once again be the favorites to win the crown. However, they will have to start the season without team captain Alyssa Valdez. De Guzman, who has taken on the sole captainship in Valdez's absence, said the team will have to make adjustments to reach their goals. That includes herself.

“We expect everyone on this team to be more open to whatever adjustments the coaches want us to make,” said De Guzman. “For myself naman, I want to improve myself in terms of communication and consistency also to help our team.”
