The HD Spikers wasted no time in disposing of Akari.
Mentally, it’s quite hard to recover from a 0-2 start in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
To regain her confidence, Cignal HD Spikers setter Gel Cayuna watched her highlights and decided to to stick to what worked for her the past two games.
It paid off.
The former best setter tallied 21 excellent sets and 8 digs in Cignal’s 25-23, 25-20, 25-14 breakthrough win over Akari Chargers on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“Personally talagang pinapanood ko mga highlights ko, 'yung mga kaya kong gawin,” said Cayuna.
Actually, the game plan was, guess what, to stick to what worked. And the HD Spikers just went berserk, finishing off the Chargers in 26 minutes in the third frame.
Rachelle Ann Daquis topscored for the team with 11 points, while Roselyn Doria and Ces Molina had 9 and 8, respectively.
“Binalikan lang din namin kung saan kami humuhugot ng lakas. Ayun bumalik naman dahan-dahan,” she added.
Cayuna is hopeful this could propel a string of victories for the HD Spikers.
“Sana tuloy-tuloy na,” she said.
