The straight-sets win was not as easy as it looked, though.
De La Salle University Lady Spikers preserved their immaculate record in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament after beating Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 30-28, 25-12, 28-26, on Wednesday.
With coach Ramil de Jesus calling the shots for the second straight game, the Lady Spikers continue to look invincible after rolling to their ninth straight victory in as many games.
It was not as easy as it looked, though.
La Salle had to overcome a sloppy start and ward off a hard-fighting Tamaraws in the third set to claim the victory.
In fact, the Lady Spikers found themselves staring at a 0-5 deficit before engaging FEU in a see-saw battle in the final stretch of the opening frame.
“Super slow start kami, parang mga bagong gising,” said Jolina dela Cruz, who finished with 13 points including a couple of service aces. “Sinabi lang ni coach na dapat ma-overcome namin ‘to.”
Dela Cruz commended her teammates for holding on and finding their groove.
“Salute pa rin sa teammates ko kasi andun pa rin 'yung kapit kahit lamang 'yung kalaban, kinapitan pa rin namin,” she said.
