Student-athletes really are extraordinary.

Just imagine dedicating your limited energy to a physically draining routine, while also juggling an already difficult and stressful life as a college student.

It’s oversimplifying to say that being a student-athlete is hard and it’s not for everybody.

Former UST Golden Tigresses middle blocker Imee Hernandez is different though. The pride of Bulacan killed it as a volleyball player, and she also aced the academic part.

In an Instagram post, Imee shared that she’s got her BS Tourism Management degree with Latin honors. Hernandez officially leaves the “Tigers’ den” as a cum laude.

"We made it,” the 5-foot-11 said.

"Nine of the most wonderful years I could ask for. Too all my family, friends, classmates, professors and everyone else along the way who supported this lady from Baliuag, I will always be grateful.”

With a diploma and a cum laude tag to back it up, Hernandez has secured a path outside of sports.

But that path might have to wait a little while because Imee’s volleyball journey continues with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, along with her longtime UST teammate Eya Laure.

The new recruits will be tested early in the PVL Invitational Conference as Chery Tiggo battles defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers in the main event of the opening day on June 27.
