The UE Red Warriors stun defending champion La Salle to make it back-to-back wins in UAAP Season 87.
UE delivers the first major shocker of UAAP Season 87.
The Red Warriors survived a furious De La Salle rally late, taking the huge 75-71 win Sunday at the MOA Arena.
While UE lost a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter with the champion Green Archers pushing, the team got a lifeline as reigning MVP Kevin Quiambao missed two critical free throws with 15.8 seconds left.
KQ would have tied the game at 73.
In contrast, John Abate went perfect on his own trip to the line and the Red Warriors made it back-to-back wins in Season 87, improving to a strong 2-2.
Meanwhile, La Salle dropped to 3-1 and the Green Archers also surrendered first place to UP, as the Fighting Maroons won earlier in the day to go up to 4-0.
