Reigning MVP Kevin Quiambao of the De La Salle Green Archers is poised to secure his second straight Most Valuable Player title in the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament.
Quiambao, who recently embraced fatherhood, leads the statistical race with 81.357 statistical points (SP) after the elimination round. His dominance across key metrics highlights his all-around brilliance and underscores his vital role in propelling La Salle to the top seed.

In 14 games, Quiambao has averaged 16.64 points, making 43.75% of his two-point attempts, 30.69% of his three-pointers, and 77.78% of his free throws. He also tops the league in triples made (31) and has the best plus/minus (+148). Additionally, he ranks fourth in assists, dishing out 4.07 per game.
Quiambao’s standout performance this season includes a 33-point explosion against Ateneo, tying UP’s Harold Alarcon for the season-high in scoring.
With his teammate Mike Phillips (74.929 SP) and UP’s JD Cagulangan (69.167 SP) trailing in the statistical race, Quiambao’s back-to-back MVP bid is all but sealed, further solidifying his status as one of the league’s premier players.
KQ is also coming off a successful stint with Gilas Pilipinas, helping the national team secure a berth to the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup.

Quiambao and Phillips is expected to lead top seed DLSU, holding a twice-to-beat advantage, against the Adamson Soaring Falcons in the Final Four this Saturday, November 30, at 6:30 p.m.
