The DLSU Green Archers kept their season alive after a monster fourth-quarter performance from back-to-back MVP Kevin Quiambao, stunning the UP Fighting Maroons for a 76-75 win in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 87 Finals at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Wednesday.

Gerry Abadiano missed on the potential game-winning triple at the buzzer as La Salle held on to force Game 3 for the second straight season.

La Salle rode Quiambao’s hot hand as he towed the Green Archers back to life, punctuated by a triple that gave the Green Archers the lead, 74-73, with 1:30 ticks left.

Though the game was far from over at that point, as Quentin Millora-Brown and Mike Phillips traded baskets which kept the advantage over at the Taft side.

In the clutch, both teams went 0-of-8 from the free throw line to keep the score as is, before Abadiano’s final miss at the corner triple.

Quiambao’s 22 points powered La Salle to the victory as he also had nine rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Phillips finished with the double-double of 18 points and 12 boards.

UP’s JD Cagulangan, Francis Lopez, and Abadiano had 16 markers each in the losing effort.

UP and La Salle face off for one final time this season on Sunday, December 15, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
