UP Fighting Maroons spiker Casiey Dongallo holds no ill-will against her former team as she watched the Diliman-based squad battle the UE Lady Warriors in their opening game in UAAP Season 87 at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.

Among the biggest moves in the offseason, Dongallo transferred to UP along with fellow UE players Jelai Gajero, Kizzie Madriaga, Shamel Fernandez, and Jenalyn Umayam, as they followed former UE coach Doctor Obet Vital to the Fighting Maroons.

As she looked on from the sidelines at the MOA Arena, Dongallo said that she still had a special place in her heart for both teams.

“Watching them is… parang may panghihinayang pa rin sana nandiyan ako sa loob ng court naglalaro pa rin and ayun po wala namang any pagpipili sa kanila kung saan ako nakasuporta ngayon,”  Dongallo told reporters on the sidelines of the game.

“I’m supporting both teams kasi naging past ko din naman yung UE and kahit nasa UP naman ako hindi ko pa rin nakalimutan yung UE.”

Because of her move, Dongallo and the rest of the transferees will need to serve one year residency before suiting up for Season 88. But even if she isn’t ready for the UAAP just yet, Dongallo is eager to show out for the Fighting Maroons in the PNVF U-21 tournaments.

Meanwhile, she’s also working on getting fully adjusted to being a Fighting Maroon.

“Yung adjustment in terms of academics ok naman po pero in terms of training hindi pa po kami nakiki-join sa training ng UAAP kasi nagta-train kami for PNVF Under 21 po,” she said.

Despite everything, Dongallo said that she was thankful to still have her high school pals with her, with her and the rest of the transferees coming from California Academy before their time in UE.

“Simula nung high school magkasama kami di ko naman inakala na mangyayari pala to,” said Dongallo.

“Parang masaya pa din kasi kahit nagkagulo parang pinili pa rin nila na magkasama kami hanggang sa dulo. Ayun na nga, nagkagulo talaga tapos pinili pa din po nilang magkasama kami,” she added.

The Fighting Maroons are coming off of a season where they only managed one win and finished with a 1-13 slate.
