Shaina Nitura made sure not to dwell too much on the lows of her rookie year for Adamson as she kept herself focused during a tough stretch, where the Lady Falcons lost four straight games to end round 1 in UAAP Season 87.

Nitura, who has since set a new all-time scoring record for a single UAAP game in women’s volleyball, understood that it was essential as the Lady Falcons grew from within and that they needed to experience the losses to learn from them.

Patient with herself and her teammates, Nitura knows that they can get their groove going eventually.

“Nalulungkot [ako] but not frustrated kasi I know there's better plans and nangyayari siya for a reason,” said Nitura after Adamson finally snapped its slump with a win over UE.

“And I know time will come that yung mga teammates ko kahit di mo na sabihin sa kanila or kahit di mo na i-remind sa kanila, they remind themselves that they have to step up as well. Sabi nga ni coach, dadating rin yung time na yun we just have to be patient.”

Nitura was the lone bright spot for Lady Falcons in that tough run of losses,  as she continued on her scoring bursts. But now that was finally able to convert her performance to a win, she believes that they are finally turning the corner in Season 87.

“It's a stepping tone para mas umangat pa yung laro namin. It's not the best game we have or di pa yun yung pinaka-best namin this season, the past round so naghahanap pa rin kami ng, yung kami talaga yung naglalaro,” she said.

“Kinukuha pa namin yung rhythm namin na maglaro pa ng sabay-sabay kami na lahat kami nasa taas.”

Against the UE Lady Warriors on Saturday where they were able to get back to the win column, the Lady Falcons were able to distribute the ball better.

Though Nitura still topscored with 18 points in the victory, she had solid help from Mayang Nuique and Barbie Jamili with 11 and nine points, respectively.

The Lady Falcons, who currently sport a 3-5 record, are looking to chase a Final Four seat and will be tested next by the Ateneo Blue Eagles when they face off on Saturday, March 29, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
