The Adamson Lady Falcons throw a wrench into the FEU Lady Tamaraws’ Final Four hopes after a big win thanks to record-breaking scorer Shaina Nitura.
Super rookie Shaina Nitura continued her record-breaking season as she now owns the single-season record in scoring in UAAP women’s volleyball, surpassing Alyssa Valdez with a 37-point performance to lead the Adamson Lady Falcons past the FEU Lady Tamaraws, 14-25, 29-27, 25-22, 25-22 on Saturday.
Nitura broke Valdez’s record of 312 points back in UAAP Season 77 by two. The rookie ended Saturday at 314 total points for the year — with two full games remaining.
Nitura also scored 37 points in the victory, where she also finished with a triple-double with 13 excellent digs and 12 excellent receptions. This is Nitura’s fifth 30-point game of the season — also a historic feat for the rookie.
The high-volume scorer first broke the record with a crosscourt hit to bring Adamson to match point, 24-20.
She then provided the finishing blow with another crosscourt attack to seal the deal, 25-22.
Frances Mordi scored 11 markers as the only other Adamson player in double digit scoring.
Adamson is already out of contention of the Final Four but improves to 5-7 for the season.
FEU, meanwhile, is still not qualified for the semis and stands at 8-5.
