Some brotherly love was shown by the Racela brothers
Changes are in store for the FEU Tamaraws after Olsen Racela stepped down as head coach of the team. But while Olsen has been bidding his goodbye to the team and the school, his older brother and Adamson head coach Nash Racela made sure to show him some brotherly love and congratulate him for his tenure in FEU.
Olsen stepped in as the head coach of FEU after Nash left the position back in 2017. Since then, coach Olsen brought the team to the Final Four in all of his years until Season 85. The Tamaraws, unfortunately, ended this season with a 5-9 record, placing them 7th in the standings.
During their time as coaches in the UAAP, fans saw several great matches between FEU and Adamson. In their head-to-head, Nash brought home more wins for the San Marcelino squad. In Season 84, the two teams finished with a 1-1 record against each other, but come Season 85, Adamson would go on to win both games against FEU.
FEU-Adamson matches won’t be the same knowing that the talented Racela brothers won’t be going at it, but nonetheless, Olsen believes that stepping down is the right thing to do.
The Tamaraws have yet to announce who their next head coach is, but we can expect that they will do their best to put in a squad that is ready to compete for Season 86. The Soaring Falcons, meanwhile, should put together another strong season under Coach Nash, but this time possibly without their star point guard Jerom Lastimosa.
