Alas Pilipinas’ opening bid in the 2024 Southeast Asian Volleyball League (SEA V.League) Leg 2 came up short after bowing to silver medalists Indonesia in straight sets, 24-26, 11-25, 15-25, at the UNY Sport Complex in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on Friday, August 23.

Alas Men, who were without team captain Bryan Bagunas due to an injury, had an early advantage in the opening frame, only to fall short against the Indonesians led by 24-year-old opposite hitter Anggara Agil Angga.

With momentum on their side, Indonesia pounced on Alas Men in the second set, dominating throuhgout the match and limiting the Philippine squad to just 11 points in the frame.

The same scenario unfolded in the third set as the Indonesians, powered by Farhan Halim and Kurniawan Hendra, flexed their muscle against the hapless Filipinos, building a lead of 11 points at one point in the frame.

Alas Men will hope to produce a much better perfomance against reigning champions Thailand on Saturday, August 24, at 5:00 p.m.
