Alec Stockton made sure he would not have another bad game for the Converge FiberXers.

After putting up just seven points on low efficiency in the FiberXers’ close defeat to the TNT Tropang Giga last Saturday, Stockton came up big this time around against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

With just four points in his name to start the fourth, the 6-foot-2 guard then erupted with 17 out of Converge’s 26 points in the final frame to lead his team to a 103-96 victory over Rain or Shine.

Stockton was a man on a mission, scoring in all ways and form for the FiberXers to secure their seventh win in the conference.

“For me personally, I played really bad, I played awful the last game, especially down the stretch, I wasn't able to give my team a chance so I wanted to make sure I bounced back this game,” Stockton said during the post-game press conference.

“Starting off really bad as well so I just wanted to make sure I'm able to bounce back and give my team a chance to win,” he added.

But more than his own agenda, Stockton made sure to give back the trust given to him by the Converge coaching staff even after his poor start to the match once more.

“I'm just grateful to have these coaches, sila coach Franco, coach Charles, and coach Willie. They give their trust in me so I just want to give back to them na they put me there to close the game out and I just want to make sure I do the job for them,” Stockton emphasized.

Helping Stockton close the game out was Jordan Heading and Justin Arana, who had 17 and 15 points, respectively.

Kevin Racal also had a solid outing with 13 markers, while import Cheick Diallo scored eight and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Rain or Shine was led by Jhonard Clarito with 24 points and six rebounds, while import Deon Thompson had a 22-point and 22-rebound outing.

Head coach Yeng Guiao was ejected during the third quarter after successive technical fouls.

The Elasto Pointers succumbed to their second straight defeat for a 5-3 record, which dropped them to sixth in the standings.

Rain or Shine will look to end their two-game losing skid when they face the NorthPort Batang Pier on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
