Here's to a healthy Gilas Pilipinas come August.
Looks like Dwight is all right.
Dwight Ramos, one of the key guards for Gilas Pilipinas, has joined full practice this Friday, coach Chot Reyes confirmed to News5.
The 6-foot-4 guard reportedly had an issue with his knee during the training camp in Europe—causing him to miss Gilas' final tune-up game against a Lithuanian selection team.
"Dwight is okay, his MRI results came back negative, cleared," Reyes told News5's Martie Bautista.
While Ramos appears to have a clean bill of health, the status of Scottie Thompson's hand, which he fractured during practice in Lithuania, remains up in the air.
"I think we're going to find out in a couple of days. On Saturday I think, he's seeing his hand specialist," Reyes said of the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel guard.
After three weeks of training back in the Philippines, the national team will head to China for a pocket tournament, where they could potentially play against Iran, Lebanon, and Senegal.
Gilas Pilipinas has been drawn in Group A of the FIBA World Cup and will compete against Angola, Dominican Republic, and Italy at the Philippine Arena and the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
China has been drawn in Group B and will take on South Sudan, Serbia, and Puerto Rico also at Araneta.
Lithuania will play at the Mall of Asia Arena against Egypt, Mexico, and Montenegro in Group D.
Iran, meanwhile, will head to Indonesia to face Spain, Ivory Coast, and Brazil in Group G.
