Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala placed lofty goals next year following her impressive campaign in 2024.
Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala is gearing up for an ambitious 2025 season, with goals of breaking into the WTA Top 100, winning a title, and qualifying for a Grand Slam main draw.
Grading her 2024 season, Eala expressed pride in her progress but admitted there were moments when she felt she was on the verge of achieving more.
"A [rating] naman. Happy naman. You have to be happy. I do think that I passed a lot of milestones this year," Eala said on One PH's Power & Play with Noli Eala. "But there are definitely moments that I think I was so close to achieving more and then hindi lang nangyari.
“But it's okay. In the end, I'm very happy with how I performed and how I've improved this year,” she added.
The 19-year-old tennis star has set her sights on qualifying for a Grand Slam main draw, a milestone she came tantalizingly close to achieving multiple times in 2024.
Eala came close to securing a spot in the main draw of the French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open this year but fell short in the third qualifying round.
"This year, I've been so close. In the past three Grand Slams, I've come so close and 'yan 'yung sinasabi ko kanina—so close but hindi pa nangyayari," she shared.

Lastly, Eala aims to clinch at least one title in 2025, a goal that underscores her hunger for continued growth and success.
"There's no particular title, but I'd preferably like to win at least one per year," she added.
As 2025 approaches, Eala will be focused on achieving her goals, which start with Australian Open qualifiers on January 6.
This will be Eala’s first shot at turning her dream into reality.
