The FIBA World Cup is less than two weeks away, and anticipation for it is rightfully building. As if to set the mood, the SM Mall of Asia and Smart have transformed the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Ball into a giant basketball—complete with a hoop. It is a fitting homage to hoops and proves yet again that it is all systems go for the country’s hosting.

A grand total of 248 workers, including site workers, engineers, safety officers, and designers, among others, put up the massive installation, which measures 1.5 meters in diameter totaling 111 meters in circumference.

Mall of Asia, of course, is home to the MOA Arena, one of the venues of this FIBA World Cup. And basketball fans will be in for a huge treat when they pass by the mesmerizing spectacle, which also happens to be symbolic of the country’s unmatched love for the game.

In addition, Smart has also teamed up with its technology partners to further expand and permanently optimize its LTE and 5G mobile network coverage across all FIBA Basketball World Cup venues, including Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, and yes, the aforementioned MOA Arena. Subscribers, therefore, can expect a world-class mobile experience when they attend the games.
