Gilas Pilipinas Women will take on world no. 1 and top seed China for a chance at the medal after falling short against Japan in the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup semifinals.
Gilas Pilipinas Women ran out of gas as the Filipinas fell prey to Japan, 22-9, in the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup semifinals Sunday in Singapore.
After an inspired play in the quarterfinal win against Mongolia, Gilas simply didn’t have enough against a methodical Japanese, who are seeded third in the tournament.

Playing without injured Camille Clarin, the three-woman Gilas managed to stay within striking distance about halfway through on Mikka Cacho’s easy two, 8-11.
But the complexion of the game drastically changed after that.
Fuyoko Takahashi scored on a layup and Japan seized control from there, finishing with a flurry to book a Finals slot against two-time defending champion Australia.
Gilas will take on world no. 1 and top seed China in the battle-for-third match later in the night.
