In an era where scoring point guards are a fixture, Ava Fajardo seems headed in the opposite direction. And we're not complaining.

On Friday, New Jersey-based trainer Michael Famosa, through one of his Instagram accounts, posted a mixtape of the 5-foot-4 cager flexing her impressive passing skills in NJ.

“@avafajardo2026 has constantly shown the ability to get paint touches that often lead to an assist,” the caption read.

This isn’t really shocking, though. After all, the 15-year-old playmaker is the younger sister of national team mainstay Ella.

But now she is ready to come out of her older sister's shadows. Ava is making a name for herself as part of the basketball team of Gill St. Bernard's School in New Jersey as a freshman cager.

With her shifty moves and playmaking prowess, she also made her debut with the Philippine team this year when she joined the likes of Camille Nolasco and BJ Villarin in the country’s FIBA U16 Women’s Asian Championship 2021 Division B campaign.

She averaged 7.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in the competition — a performance which augurs well for the future of the Philippine women’s basketball program.

Before her debut, she joined Ella at Gilas Pilipinas Women’s training for the 31st Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam where the Filipina ballers eventually captured the gold medal.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old Ella is currently playing for Division 1 School Fairleigh Dickinson Knights. And she continues to get better by the day.

With the Fajardo siblings in the mix, the future of Philippine women’s basketball shines brighter than ever.
