Captain Aby Maraño retires from national team

Former Philippine Women's Volleyball Team captain and emotional leader Aby Maraño has ended her stint with the national team.

Maraño announced the news on Instagran.

"Nagwakas na ang serbisyo sa bayan," Maraño said in the post.

"Maraming salamat. Love, Capt. Tyang."


The 30-year-old middle blocker served the country since 2015, and was named captain several times. Maraño made a name for herself as one of the most vocal stars in the country's volleyball scene.

Players and fans gave Maraño her flowers in the retirement post.

"[The] best. [Love] you, Tyang," Maddie Madayag said in a comment.

"You're the best captain. You did very well," another commenter said.
