What does EJ Obiena like aside from breaking the Asian record?
The world has seen EJ Obiena's dedication to pole vault. The Asian record holder literally left school to pursue a career in the sport. Even in a very uncomfortable and challenging time with the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA), the world no. 3 endured and still gave the Philippines his commitment and loyalty.
Just recently, the pride of Tondo, Manila joined a very exclusive club after clearing a historic six-meter mark, proving that he belongs among the best of the best to ever do it. Obiena's dedication and seriousness to the craft are plausible.
But EJ knows how to have fun too.
In a question-and-answer session on Instagram, Obiena revealed that most people don't know "that I'm goofy."
"There's a lot of people [who] think that I'm too well-spoken for my [own] good. I like to have fun a little bit," he said.
When asked whether he prefers Marvel or DC, Obiena replied with the former. And the Marvel Cinematic Universe's former main man might be the reason why.
"Definitely Iron Man. Robert Downy Jr., you're the man," EJ answered when asked if he prefers Iron Man or Spider-Man.
In terms of hobby preferences, the former University of Santo Tomas athlete shared that he likes watching, tennis, and singing.
Choosing between beauty and brains? That's an easy answer for Obiena.
