Jhanlo is also trying to make a case as a top-5 contender in the bantamweight division.
Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao believes son Jhanlo will be put to the test when the latter takes on Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu at ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian on Saturday.
“He’ll certainly be tested. Here, we’ll truly see how ready Jhanlo is,” said the Sangiao patriarch.
While Sangiao has the speed advantage, Baatarkhuu certainly boasts of experience as well as the “strength and toughness to grind out a win.”
Still, the Team Lakay coach is expecting a stellar performance from his 21-year-old son dubbed “The Machine.”
“I’ve always been telling my fighters to focus on their next match, win, and make the most out of the opportunity. Whoever’s in front of him, he has to perform. As always, I want to see him come out and perform well,” he said.
If he, indeed, performs as expected against his Mongolian counterpart in the match at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, Sangiao could make a case to be in the bantamweight’s top five and be a step closer to a potential title fight.
“It’s all up to ONE really, but at the end of the day, it’s all about his performance. I’m basing it on how he’ll perform. And with another huge performance, who knows?” the 43-year-old mentor added.
