The Philippines will look to bounce back in the second leg of the tournament.
The Philippine women's national volleyball team remained winless in the first leg of the Southeast Asian Volleyball League after falling to Indonesia in straight sets, 20-25, 17-25, 21-25, on Sunday in Vinh Phuc, Vietnam.
The Filipina spikers managed to keep the score close against Indonesia in the early and middle part of the first set. However, after the second technical timeout, the Philippines would fall behind against their opponent, unable to catch up.
This would be the running theme for the rest of the match as Indonesia would kick into another gear to secure all three sets and the victory against the young Philippine squad.
Bella Belen and Alyssa of the NU Lady Bulldogs tried their best once more to lead the Philippines to victory, however, the Indonesians proved too be too much for them.
With the win, Indonesia improved to a 1-2 win-loss record while the Philippines slid to 0-3.
The Philippines can get their chance to bounce back as the teams will now head to Chiang Mai, Thailand for the next leg. It will be held from August 11 to 13.
