Filipino tennis star Alex Eala has been having a stellar 2023, showing tremendous improvement and winning tournaments in the process. Last August, she bagged her second International Tennis Federation (ITF) title of the year by conquering the W25 Roehampton championship. Before that, she secured the W25 trophy in Yecla, Spain back in June.
As her game continues to flourish, her fanbase keeps on growing as well. This development was probably what prompted the ITF to do a segment about the Filipino teen sensation.
On Tuesday, the ITF took to Instagram to announce an upcoming feature starring Alex. First, the Instagram Story showed that the people’s choice for the ITF’s next a-day-in-the-life video was none other than Eala. Second, the former US Open juniors champion herself invited the fans to watch out for her upcoming collab with the ITF production crew.
“I hear a lot of you guys have been asking for it. So, here it is, coming soon, ‘A day in the life with Alex Eala,’” said the budding star.
Indeed, the clamour surrounding Eala is not suprising at all. Check this out:
After capturing her fourth overall ITF title in Roehampton, the 18-year-old prodigy finally breached the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) top 200. Her current ranking is 193.
To top it all off, Eala did the Philippines proud in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. In her maiden Asiad stint, the Rafa Nadal Academy alum was able to collect a couple of bronze medals. The first one came from the women’s singles event, wherein she was able to push world number 23 Zheng Qinwen to the limit during the semis. And the second one was from the mixed doubles category wherein she fought alongside teammate Francis Alcantara.
Expect bigger things to come for Alex the Great. But first, watch out for her a-day-in-the-life ITF special.
