KQ and Dwight Howard on the same team in Dubai
Strong Group Athletics will flash some major Animo spirit in the 33rd Dubai International Basketball Championship.
The local crew for Strong Group will be backstopped by UAAP Champion De La Salle and NCAA Final Four team St. Benilde, as the team hopes for quick chemistry thanks to familiarity.
UAAP Most Valuable Player Kevin Quiambao leads the cast, joined by fellow Green Archer Francis Escandor. Allen Liwag, Tony Ynot, and Justine Sanchez are coming over from CSB.
“Super happy na mapasama ulit sa team knowing yung roster is super loaded and talented. Yung gutom na makabawi is nandiyan para sa ‘min dahil yung league nga na sasalihan natin is best of the best,” said Quiambao, who already suited up for Strong Group last year.
Unfortunately, that Dubai experience ended in the quarterfinals.
Also on the Strong Group team is La Salle coach Topex Robinson, joining Blazers head coach Charles Tiu. Australia Boomers coach Brian Goorjian is the team’s consultant.
“DLSU just won the college championship, so it made sense for us to bring in some of their players and merge them with ours at Benilde,” Tiu said.
Dwight Howard, Andray Blatche, Andre Roberson, and McKenzie Moore were earlier revealed as the team’s reinforcements for the January 19 to 28 joust.
