Savi Davison is focused on improving further for PLDT as the High Speed Hitters near the end of the preliminary round of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
PLDT superstar Savi Davison might just be on her way to her first MVP award in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Davison is fresh off a 26-point outing in the High Speed Hitters’ sweep of the Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-20, 25-17, 25-19, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
With another strong performance, the Fil-Canadian added more points in different statistical departments, boosting her overall campaign.
As of Feb. 3 prior to the victory over Farm Fresh, Davison ranks first among the Best Scorers with 185 points, second among Best Spikers with a 38.37 percent success rate, and second as well among the Best Receivers with a 28.28 percent efficiency rate.
Despite this, the 26-year-old power spiker is not thinking too much about the MVP as an accolade, but reaching this level of play has been her goal for the year.
“I don’t want to think too far ahead but it’s actually written in my notes on my phone. I want to be at least top-3 in scoring. I had the blocking list in on there but it’s not going so well, but I’m glad to be top scorer on the list,” Davison told One Sports.
“I think that’s the goal—to be amongst the best. I always want to be the best in the gym so I’m just glad it’s reflecting in numbers,” she added.

But among the statistical categories, Davison took particular notice of the Best Receivers, emphasizing her goal to be a defensive-oriented spiker as well.
“Yeah, I don’t even have Top Spiker on my list, it’s Top Outside Receiver. So, just being on the list—I know a lot of people like to say it’s super flashy being able to hit the ball but I think receiving is like the first touch so just as important for sure,” Davison explained.
Should Davison bag the MVP award, she will likely defeat her close friend and former MVP Brooke Van Sickle of the Petro Gazz Angels.
Both dominating the league, the MVP battle hasn’t been a topic just yet for the two Fil-foreign superstars.
“We don’t even talk about it,” Davison laughingly said. “It never comes up in conversation.”
“We’re just both here, having the best time that we can and if it comes out as an MVP, if it comes out in the numbers then so be it. But I think right now, me and her are kind of like on the same page like just show up and do your best,” she added, talking about Van Sickle.

PLDT will have two more games before the High Speed Hitters close out the preliminary round and head into the playoff phase.
There, Davison hopes the High Speed Hitters can continue their solid form as they vie for the All-Filipino crown.

“I think it’s more about preparing for the long haul like having those hard games back-to-back once we get into quarters and semifinals and just being in that top-4 position for the podium,” said Davison.
