A Ferrari driver managed to shine through amid a routine Formula 1 weekend that finished with a routine 1-2 for Red Bull Racing.

Oliver Bearman, taking over for Carlos Sainz after the Spanish driver had to have surgery for appendicitis, took home points in his first-ever race at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix in Jeddah.

Despite starting the grid in 11th, Bearman crossed the line in P for a massive points haul for the Scuderia given the circumstances.

Bearman, the youngest driver in Ferrari’s Formula 1 history and third youngest to start a race all-time, also won Driver of the Day. To cap an impressive debut, he also sits at 10th in the driver standings with six points.

Aside for the Ollie success story, Jeddah was mostly the same, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen converting his pole position to a Grand Prix win, now his ninth straight dating back to last season.

Teammate Sergio Perez took P2, but had a stronger performance compared to Bahrain. Checo’s final gap to Max was 13.643 seconds, but it came after a five-second penalty. He was over 22 seconds off in the first race.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who qualified P2, took home his first podium of 2024 and Ferrari’s second for the year. He also took the fastest lap for an extra point.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri was fourth, while Fernando Alonso was fifth for Aston Martin.

George Russell crossed the line 6th in his Mercedes, Lando Norris was 8th in the other McLaren, while Lewis Hamilton and Hass’ Nico Hulkenberg complete the point scorers for the second race of the season.
