Justin Brownlee and Pelita Jaya were given a rude welcome to the Basketball Champions League Asia.

Japan B.League champions Hiroshima Dragonflies stamped their class on the IBL club, scoring a rather convincing 86-69 win Sunday in Dubai to open the BCL Asia proper.

This is Pelita Jaya’s first loss in BCL Asia action, after going 6-0 in the qualifiers in April.

Fresh from their first-ever B1 championship, the Dragonflies started their quest for another title on a high note.

Five Hiroshima players finished in double figures, led by Toshiki Kamisawa with 20 points, built around six triples.

Dwayne Evans added 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Dragonflies, while B1 Finals MVP Takuto Nakamura and Kaine Roberts added 11 apiece.

Brownlee came off the bench but led Pelita Jaya in scoring, going for 12 points, four rebounds, and three steals.

James Dickey and Brandon Jawato went for 11 and 10 points, respectively for the Jakarta-based squad.
