The Gilas Pilipinas Women 3x3 team eyes to improve on its quarterfinal showing as it heads to the Wuhan leg of the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series this weekend, June 29 to 30.

The Filipina ballers, bannered by Sam Harada, Kaye Pingol, Hazelle Yam and Allana Lim logged their best performance in the tournament so far in their Ulaanbaatar debut earlier this month, reaching the quarters and finishing at sixth place.

They, however, struggled to advance past the group stages in the next two legs in Clermont-Ferrand and Orleans, France, wounding up at eleventh both times.

“Even if we did not get the results that we wanted, we know that we will just keep on improving,” said Harada.

Harada noted that the squad needs to improve on their skills, strength, discipline and patience after being fared against taller players in a world-class competition.

“Eye-opener para sa amin 'yung na-experience namin doon kasi talagang world-class level 'yung competition na nakaharap namin,” said Harada.

“Marami kaming kailangang i-improve from individual skills, strength, disiplina at patience sa system na itinatakbo namin. Maliit talaga tayong mga Pinoy kaya dapat matuto tayong lumaban against the taller teams," she added.

The Gilas 3x3 Women is determined to showcase its wares in China where it is bracketed in Pool A along with Thailand, Taipei Absolute and the host country.

Angel Surada will replace Lim there.

“Ang maganda lang is may chemistry kami at na-e-expose na kami sa mga ganitong klaseng competition,” said Harada.

“Hindi kami susuko and we will show how Filipinos play beautiful basketball.”
