The time is finally now for Gilas Girls.

In a show of strength, the Philippines repeated over Lebanon, 95-64, in the Finals of the FIBA U18 Women's Asia Cup 2024 Division B in Shenzhen Sunday, June 30.

The victory pushed Gilas Pilipinas Girls to a well-earned promotion to Division A, two years after initially missing out after a one-point loss to Malaysia in the semifinals of the 2022 edition.

Five players scored in double figures for the Philippines, led by Alyssa Rodriguez with 22 points.

Alicia Villanueva went for 15 points, Naomi Panganiban added 13, while Ava Fajardo and Sophia Canindo were good for 10 points each for Gilas, who finished with a clean 4-0 record.

Gilas Girls’ average margin of victory was 51 points, including a 123-point beatdown of Maldives to open group phase. The Philippines also already beat Lebanon by 26 earlier in the week.

The Philippines will be promoted to Division A in place of Indonesia, joining Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, China, and Australia for the 2026 tournament.
