Ginebra players and fans alike held their breath when Jeremiah Gray limped late in the second quarter of the Gin Kings' match against Terrafirma in the nightcap of the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup Wednesday, April 23.

That happened after Gray hurt his right leg inside the final two minutes of the game which went Ginebra's way, 101-80, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.

Gray returned from his second ACL injury last February.

As a precautionary measure, Cone and his staff decided to sit out Gray in the second half.

“We lost Miah at halftime. As a precautionary measure, we didn’t want to play him in the second half,” Cone said.

The Gin Kings no longer needed his services as they were in control throughout to ensure their triumphant start to the conference after failing in the Finals of the last Commissioner's Cup against TNT.

Cone, though, said that the team is optimistic that Gray's injury was nothing serious.

“He was doing OK in the locker room, then he came back to the bench. That was a good sign that maybe it wasn’t as bad as we thought it was,” Cone said.
