Early change for NorthPort in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup as they get James Kwekuteye via trade.
NorthPort made some tweaks in the roster early in the ongoing PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup.
The Batang Pier shipped sparingly-used big Abu Tratter to Blackwater to acquire the services of young gunner James Kwekuteye.
The league approved the deal on Wednesday, April 23.
Kwekuteye joins NorthPort’s young core that features Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference Arvin Tolentino, William Navarro, and Joshua Munzon.
The Batang Pier are coming off a historic mid-season conference that saw them top the standings at the end of the elimination round and eventually reach the semifinals.
But NorthPort had a so-so start to the season-ending Philippine Cup, splitting its first two games against Terrafirma and Rain or Shine.
Kwekuteye is expected to suit up for the Batang Pier when they take on, incidentally, the Bossing on Friday, April 25 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The match starts at 5pm.
