The women’s national team has yet to secure a podium finish since the 2005 SEA Games.
A few hours after announcing the Philippine men’s national team pool, the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) has also released the list for the women’s team.
Headlining the national team pool is Alyssa Valdez, who is still recovering from her knee injury. Also part of the team are Valdez’s teammates from Creamline in Jia de Guzman, Tots Carlos, Ced Domingo, Kyla Atienza, and Jema Galanza.
Aside from the six Creamline players, Reinforced Conference MVP Mylene Paat, PVL Best Setter Gel Cayuna, and Choco Mucho’s Kat Tolentino and Cherry Nunag were also included in the list.
MJ Phillips of Petro Gazz, and Jules Samonte, Mika Reyes, Dell Palomata, and Kath Arado of PLDT are also in the national team pool.
The PNVF also added collegiate players in the mix, with Lia Pelaga and Riza Nogales, both from the University of the East, making it to the roster.
Fans hope the women’s national team can finally reach the podium in the upcoming 32nd Southeast Asian Games in May.
