'Filthy animal': Steph Curry adds fuel to GOAT talk with historic Game 7 performance

Golden State Warriors

A few days before the Golden State Warriors eliminated the Sacramento Kings in Game 7 of their first round matchup, Draymond Green went out and said that his teammate Steph Curry is the GOAT. Many found it outrageous because Michael Jordan and LeBron James exist. But Green might be a genius after all.

On Monday, Curry responded to the outspoken forward’s fawning by dropping a 50-piece in the decider, and leading the Warriors to a 120-100 road victory at the hostile Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. It was a mind-blowing performance that naturally drew wild reactions from his team, his peers, and rest of the inhabitants of the NBA world.

Golden State coach Steve Kerr somewhat gave credence to Draymond’s bold claim. At the postgame press conference, the decorated tactician described the similarities between his former Chicago Bulls teammate, and his current star player.

“We all take him for granted. That's how I felt in my playing days with Michael Jordan," Kerr said.

Klay Thompson dubbed the epic Game 7 performance in honor of his Splash bro.

Steph’s latest signature game had Gary Payton II speechless.

Veteran sportswriter Bill Simmons grabbed one of the rare opportunities wherein cussing on Twitter is acceptable.

ESPN basketball analyst Jalen Rose basically said that the two-time MVP and four-time champ had Sacramento taking the first sacrament.

From one great shooter to another, Portland Trail Blazers superstar Dame Lillard can’t help but put more respect on Curry’s name. But first, he had to call him a “filthy animal.”

Literally and figuratively one of the Warriors’ biggest critics, Kendrick Perkins was forced to give credit where credit is due.

The previous record for most points in a Game 7 was 48, which was set by Kevin Durant back in 2021 when the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks battled in the Eastern Conference semifinals. KD seeing his former teammate go for 50 warranted a short and simple tweet yet loaded with admiration.

NBA fans will get a chance to see more of Curry’s greatness as the Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers duke it out in the second round on Wednesday in Oakland.
