China just picked up the first Olympics Games Paris 2024 gold medal on Saturday, July 27 (PH time).

This after Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao topped the 10m air rifle mixed team event, besting South Korea, 16-12, at the Chateauroux Shooting Center.

The Korean duo of Keum Jihyeon and and Park Hajun trailed behind early, 2-6, then showed some resistance in the end as they tried to close in at 14-12 but ended up settling for silver.

The 17-year-old Huang and 19-year-old Sheng will try to carry on the momentum as they each see action in the 10m air rifle men's and women's events, respectively, on Sunday, July 28.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan claimed the bronze mint after drubbing Germany, 17-5.

Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev simply outclassed the German pairing of Anna Janssen and Maximilian Ulbrich earlier at the same venue.
