The PBA will ease rules on players who wish to playor return from playingoverseas.

Commissioner Willie Marcial had this to say during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex on Tuesday.

“Medyo luluwag,” said Marcial, referring to their rules on players deciding to take their talents to Japan B.League, KBL, among others.

Last May, the PBA already lifted the sit-out rule on overseas-based players who want to return and play in the league again like Kiefer Ravena, Ray Parks, and Greg Slaughter, and Robert Bolick.

Nothing is set in stone, though. It’s also not clear what steps or rules the league is going to implement going forward.

But Marcial assured the governors have softened their stance on it, two years since getting a fair share of criticisms for imposing the rule following former NLEX Road Warrior Ravena's decision to suit up for Shiga Lakes in the Land of the Rising Sun.

“Wala pang final pero napag-usapan na medyo pagbibigyan na ‘yung mga naglalaro sa abroad,” he said.

“Depende na lang ano final namin. Mag-uusap pa rin kami. Iba na ang puso ng mga governors pagdating sa mga players abroad.”
