Beyond the numerous victories on the court, completing his education in FEU stands as the ultimate trophy for Magnolia’s Russel Escoto.
After years of balancing the fast-paced rhythm of professional basketball with the quiet dedication of late-night studies, Magnolia Hotshot Russel Escoto has finally earned his degree from Far Eastern University.
“Finally! Graduate na!😭🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Thank you, Far Eastern University!” he posted on his Instagram.
Now forever connected to FEU, Escoto was also a Tamaraws champion, being part of FEU's title run in UAAP Season 78.
Escoto, together with the likes of Mac Belo, Mike Tolomia, Roger Pogoy, Achie Inigo, and Francis Tamsi, ended the decade-long title drought for FEU in 2015, delivering the school's 20th UAAP championship in men’s basketball.
The 6-foot-6 center expressed his utmost gratitude to his mentors, who shaped not just his basketball career but his journey through education as well, including FEU basketball coaching staff Mark Molina, Horacio Lim, Robert Flores, and Nash Racela.
“To Sir Mark Molina as well. Lubos na pasasalamat po sa inyo sa paggabay sa akin mula high school hanggang college. To my coaches — Coach Horacio Lim Pcabl Coach Robert Flores, Coach Nash Racela—at sa lahat ng naging assistant coaches at Teammates at bumubuo ng FEU Basketball Coaching Staff noong mga panahon na nandoon ako,” Escoto wrote.
While it has been nearly a decade since he proudly donned the jersey of the FEU Tamaraws, his commitment to his university and loyalty to its values have only grown stronger with time.
“I will forever be grateful and proud to be a Tamaraw! 🔰Be Brave and Charge sa lahat ng pagsubok ng buhay! Maraming salamat, FEU,” he posted.
The Hotshots are also in profound pride and admiration for Escoto, who has reached an extraordinary milestone in his life.
“Congratulations on your graduation @russelescoto!!!! We are sooooo proud of you!!” they shared.
Escoto is set to sizzle the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots ahead of PBA Season 49.
